FAQ

Solar energy is energy derived by converting light into energy, which can be used to power our homes & offices. It is arguably the best type of renewable energy available due to its versatility, consistency, and seemingly endless supply. Solar energy is absolutely free and readily available no matter the location and time of year.

It can be depending on your energy needs, the cost of a complete solar PV system starts from Rs.2,00,000. However, one must bear in mind that the energy is FREE and you are really prepaying your future energy bills by investing in the solar energy system. Also, Tamil Nadu has adopted feed-in tariff scheme for the solar PV systems meaning, the government would pay for the solar energy generated on your rootop.

Clearly the location of your rooftop, shade-free area and the local climate are the most important factors to consider. Since in South India we have clearly a lot of sunny days, solar power plants here generate more than anywhere else and can give you shorter break even durations. But most importantly, make sure you have shade free area on your roof expecially from 9am up to 3pm.

A solar PV system is able to generate electricity by exposing silicon-based photovoltaic modules to light and this will separate the electrical field between positively and negatively charged silicon layers, creating voltage. The produced direct current will be either stored in a battery bank for off-grid PV systems, or be sent back to the metered grid for normal grid-tie PV systems, provided that loads are satisfied.

Yes! Our solar panels are designed to perform better in low light conditions due to positive tolerances in power ratings which would help our customers generate more on a rainy day than standard solar products. Of course energy generated would not be 100% of that on a sunny day.

A unit is a measure of electricity. One unit equals one Kilo-watt-hour (KwH). In turn, one KwH is the electricity used if a 1000watt load is used for one hour. For example if a load such as an air-conditioner is rated at 2.0KwH then, it will use 2.0 units per hour provided the load is continuous. This number of units is also shown in your electricity connection card. The cost of a unit varies alot from the type of connection you have to the amount of total consumption of power during a period.

Photovoltaic modules are typically made up of crystalline silicon cells and they also contain small quantities of other atoms, usually boron and phosphorous, to create silicon layers of opposite electrical properties. The positive and negative silicon layers, upon exposure to sunlight, will create and separate the electrical field between the layers. This will give rise to voltage difference, creating electrical current flow.

It is not very difficult to calculate the payback period on a solar PV system, but one can only do best approximation as it is impossible to predict economic factors such as inflation and future cost of electricity which always rise. The simplest way to summarize this is by first finding out the net energy required by your premises and matching it to the total solar power generation required. Use our Calculator to find out how much capacity you need to save on a yearly basis.

A grid-tied system generally consists of PV modules, a PV combiner box, a solar inverter, cables, and an isolator. For bigger capacity plants such as 20KW, we provide more durable earthing and lightning protection depending on requirements

Daystar solar pays extreme importance to reliability of solar power plants. Since even one day of down-time results in precious free energy not being generated. Our philosophy is to build redundancies into the system to enhance the life of the whole plant. Thereby we include over capacity in our products so that they perform comfortably for years to come.

Our products are designed in such a way so as to reduce the number of components in the system to increase the efficiency so that there are no losses due to energy conditioning. Daystar Solar energy inverters are designed to offer high efficiencies of up to 98% thereby reducing any losses in the system and giving our customers more energy per cost.

Solar power generation helps burn less fossil fuels which in turn reduces the release of deadly gases and carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. This reduces the quality of the air we breathe thereby leading to long term health disorders. Besides imagine reducing your carbon foot-print by tons a month! Now that’s a heavy issue to be dealt with.

Well, approximately this would depend on factors such as solar power plant accessibility requirement and type of roof. But as a guideline for every 1000 watts solar power capacity, you would require about 75 sq.ft footprint area and an additional 25 sq.ft as access area around the solar power plant. So as an example for a 5000 watt solar power plant (DS-5KW CAPELLA) you would require 500 sq.ft of rooftop space.

Yes of course! Our Solar Grid-tie power plants come in either single phase or a three-phase configuration thereby catering to heavy power generation as well. Our SIRIUS 20KW range can be used as four numbers of 5KW CAPELLA in single-phase configuration or as a single three-phase 20KW SIRIUS configuration. We can install up to 1000KW (1340 Hp) in a single power plant by using stacking concept similar to cascading.

Yes, in fact schools, colleges, shopping malls, hospitals, offices etc are all places of high energy consumption during the day especially for air conditioning and other requirements. Installing a Daystar Solar power plant would enable abundant savings thereby increasing profitability and reducing burden of cost inflation. Go ahead give your business, institution or organization the energy it deserves! See our calculator section to calculate your energy requirements today!

Well, there is no limit to the amount of solar power plant capacity installable. As long as you have space we can install. We can also install taking into consideration over capacity so as to cater to future demand.

Installing a Daystar solar power plant helps reduce the burden on fossil fuel based energy generation; here however it is prudent to note that there is no need for your energy consumption related activities to be cut down, instead you are given rewards in terms of savings and a guaranteed power production for the a long time to come. But if all this does not help you then knowing that you would be helping in reducing the carbon dioxide emissions by hundreds of tons per year per individual ought to bring out the needed urge.

Whether you are a small consumer or a huge industry; one must remember that the costs of electricity are to be borne from day one almost throughout ones lifetime! Image the total accumulated costs one pays during an entire lifetime; For this reason and many others such as Eco-friendly approach to sustainability, better protection against future cost inflations, etc must one assess the gravity of the current scenario. Our world is running on empty with regards to fossil fuel based power generation, there has been a lot of talk over the past decade about sustainability but we should take it upon ourselves to leave behind a sustainable world in which the quality of life is improved by leaps and bounds.
